Public assistance sought after alleged hijacker shot himself during high-speed chase


Ngqamakhwe police have appealed for community assistance in identifying a deceased man, who they say fatally, shot himself during a high-speed chase after two men allegedly hijacked a vehicle at Dutywa on Monday.

It is alleged that the deceased and other man were involved in a hijacking on Monday, and a victim informed Dutywa Traffic Cops of the incident.

“The traffic cops gave chase and the vehicle was driven to Ngqamakhwe direction and when the hijackers were about to be cornered, they stopped the vehicle and one man ran to the forest while the deceased drew a fire arm and shot himself to death,” described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

He added that the deceased was wearing a jean trouser, an Adidas shoes and he is tall and dark in complexion.
