Pumba Game Reserve named on CNN’s list of top 10 “must visit” destinations

Already a recipient of Tripadvisor’s 2014 “Certificate of Excellence” Award, Eastern Cape based Pumba Private Game Reserve and Spa, has been named by CNN as one of its top 10 destinations to visit, following this year’s annual Safari Awards.

Established back in 2007, the awards is aimed at recognising the best safari lodges, camps, houses and spa’s on an international scale with particular attention being payed to Africa.  

Nominated in the categories “Best Value Safari Property”, “Best Safari Cuisine”, “Best Community Focus”, “Best Ecology Responsible”, and “Best Family Safari Property”, Pumba was one of only two South African entries named by CNN, which also included establishments from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and India.

In addition, Pumba has also been nominated in four of the above mentioned categories for the 2016 awards, with the winners expected to be named at a gala event in London on November 1st.

Housing over 60 different species of mammals, 250 birds and the Big Five, Pumba is also one of only two reserves in Southern Africa to house a breeding programme for the endangered white lion, as well as the monitoring and rehabilitation of leopards.

Boasting a five star rating from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, Pumba offers a choice of 11 luxury glass enclosed thatched chalets or 12 stone-wall thatched units at its Msenge Bush and Pumba Water Lodges, with other attractions including game drives, day trips and spa treatments to name but a few.
