Putting the Edge on fun runs

APRIL 19, 2016

All eyes will be on Bushpig Adventures this weekend as The Edge Muck Run takes place on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning in what promises to be the most exciting 5km fun run of the year.

Fun and laughs for the whole family guaranteed as the young one's get to tackle a 2km obstacle course on Saturday afternoon from 2pm before the 5km version starts at 3pm Saturday and is repeated again at 10am on Sunday.

This year the Edge Muck Run features what is believed to be South Africa’s largest slip and slide obstacle of around 150m boosting the 15 plus obstacles and 3 water tables along the route as participants jump, climb, slide and crawl their way through the bush, mud and water in what has become one of the most exciting social obstacle races in the Eastern Cape.

Unique imported dog tag medals, MAQ washing powder samples and a cold Powerade welcome the participants after they tackle the final 30m mud crawl beneath the barbed wire strands.

"We're looking forward to a very festive weekend for the participants with spectators being more than welcome, " said Muck Run owner Mike Zoetmulder of Zsports Events NPC.

"The event is geared for the whole family with a Woodlands Dairy First Choice Kids Zone, Paintball shooting, the Castle Lite Beer Garden and an array of vendors on hand."

New to the Edge Muck Run this year is the extended Coca Cola slip and slide, the Fresh Laundry foam obstacle as Fresh Laundry join the Muck Run to offer support in cleaning all the clothing which is donated after the event and the Builders Warehouse Gardena ‘Clean your Muck’ shower station and changing area where all participants can clean up afterwards.

The charity component of the Edge Muck Run has always been very well supported by the donation of unwanted clothing, bedding and blankets and the dirty race clothing and shoes.

This year the Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth Sunrise will be collecting the clothing for a winter clothing drive to support those in need of warmth and clothing this year. All participants and spectators are encouraged to donate all unwanted items at the event.

Entries are expected to sell-out ahead of the weekend and those keen to still take part are advised to register soonest on www.MuckRun.co.za to secure a place in this year’s Edge Muck Run. Vehicle entry into Bushpig Adventures this weekend is just R20 per vehicle with entry being off Lakeside Road between Seaview Road and Kragga Kamma Roads.

Gates open at 12 noon on Saturday and 8am on Sunday.
