Queens face off against Dale at the Graveyard in pivotal EC clash
Queens College embrace for yet another decisive Eastern Cape schools rivalry when they face-off against traditional old foes, Dale College, at the in King Williams Town on Saturday.
The rivalry between these two schools dates back to 1891 when they first met. In addition, Dale won both the home and away fixtures against the Queens counterparts in 2015 respectively and will hope to solidify that winning potential come Saturday when they play on the Dale home field nicknamed the ‘Graveyard’.
On recent form in 2016, Dale have only lost one match out of ten to date, while Queens lost three out of 11. However, as much as those win tallies favour the home side, Queens have faced slightly tougher opposition in their fixture schedule so far.
Dale College results in 2016 so far: beat Port Rex 40-0; beat Pearson 22-3; beat Maritzburg College 25-16; beat Framesby 46-17; lost to Glenwood 32-5; beat Stirling 60-12; beat Selborne College 24-19; beat St. Davids 74-0; beat Goudveld 74-7; beat De Vos Malan 53-0.
Queens College results in 2016 so far: beat Hudson Park 23-7; lost to Kingswood 31-17; beat Northwood 36-8; beat St. Benedict’s 30-27; lost to Jeppe Boys High 41-20; beat Marlow Landbou 25-15; beat Selborne College 33-29; beat Graeme College 50-6; beat Pearson 40-18; beat Framesby 20-12; lost to Grey High 31-17.
Dale and Queens are currently ranked second and fourth in the EC pool of representatives in the SA Rugby Magazine school rugby rankings respectively, with Queens being ranked 23rd and Dale 13th. Grey High are the top ranked EC school side and will knuckle down to overcome Wynberg Boys High from Cape Town on their reunion weekend this Saturday.
