Queenstown police on Friday launched investigations after a boy, believed to be just about two-days old, was found dumped in an open veld at Lauri Dashwood, Queenstown.

According to the police, the child was seen by passing community members, who took him to the local police station.

Local SAPS Communication officer, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, together with the SAPS Sector Manager for Queenstown, Constable Nomthandazo Qina, and African National Congress (ANC) Nomatamsanqa Mapeyi, later arranged for the child to be taken to the Frontier Hospital.

There, the boy underwent medical examinations and was found to be weighing a healthy 4.4 kg.
