R30.6 Million For Rehabilitation Of PE Airport Runway


The rehabilitation of the secondary run-way at the Port Elizabeth Airport had cost R30.6 million, Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has told the National Assembly.

Replying to a written question, the Minister said the work had been carried out to “improve compliance and the structural capability of the runway,” adding that the work had started in May last year and completed in November.

Peters said that R171.4 million had been spent on the rehabilitation of the runway and taxiway at the East London Airport.

She said the work, which had started in November 2012 and been completed in July 2013, was also “to improve compliance and the structural capability of the runway”.

A total Of R68.1 million has been spent at the George Airport for the same work. - MetroMinutes.
