R65 000 mandrax bust in Cookhouse

Cookhouse police on Monday morning arrested four suspects on drug charges after they were searched along the N10.

"In the early hours of this morning a vehicle check point was held on the N10 by members of Cookhouse SAPS.  A suspicious vehicle was searched and 1 086 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of  R65 000 were confiscated," described Warrant Officer  Lötz in a statement.

"Four males between the ages of 21 and 36 years were arrested and the vehicle was confiscated." 

He said that the suspects were appeared before the court in Somerset East and the case is currently under investigation. 

"The case against three of the suspects were provisionally withdrawn. 

"The fourth accused was released on R1 500 bail and was warned to appear before court on the 24th of August," Lötz  said.
