Radio presenter behind bars for relationship with underage girl

A Port Elizabeth community radio presenter and pastor is expected to appear in court next week, following his arrest yesterday in connection with having a sexual relationship with a now 17-year old girl.

According to a statement by Algoa FM, Police Spokesperson Captain Johan Rheerder said the girl confirmed to the Family Violence, Sexual Offences, and Child Protection Unit that she and the man, believed to be in his 40s, had been having regular intercourse since their relationship started two years ago.

Rheerder also stated that the suspect had send images of his private parts to the girl over his cellphone on various occasions, and that he would remain behind bars till his appearance this coming Monday.

The latest incident comes after a Kingfisher FM presenter was arrested last month for having sexually assaulted a young girl. He was released on bail shortly afterwards and is expected to appear in court on October 22nd.
