Rape suspect arrested after evading police for almost two years

SEPTEMBER 17, 2015

Cookhouse police were on Wednesday commended by the Acting Station Commander for Cradock, Lt Col Eugene Olivier, for their dedication and commitment towards their work following the arrest of a rape suspect, who had evaded arrest for almost two years.

The 36-year-old suspect, who allegedly raped a woman in Cookhouse back in November 2013, was arrested by local police officers, Warrant Officer Alberts and Sergeant Mahlaba on a farm in the Mortimer area on 10 September.

The two police officers swiftly followed up on information that the suspect was in the area and subsequently carried out a long-standing warrant of arrest that was issued against him.
