Rated R Volkswagen Golf and Beetle now available
Previously only available on the Touareg, Tiguan, CC and Scirocco, Volkswagen had extended its sporty R-Line trim package to include the Beetle on Golf.
Based on the range topping 1.4 TSI Sport version of the Beetle, the R-Line package adds 19-inch Tornado alloy wheels, sport suspension, R-Line badged scuff plates and grille, special R-Line front and rear bumpers, and a unique roof spoiler.
Choice of drivetrain remains unchanged with power still being rated and 110 kW and 250 N.m of torque, delivered to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmission.
A three year / 120 000 km warranty and five year / 60 000 km service plan is standard in the R360 000 and R376 000 asking prices.
Available in Comfortline and range topping Highline version of the Golf, the R-Line package adds 17-inch Salvador or 18-inch Serron alloy wheels respectively, black faux rear diffuser, R-Line front and rear bumpers, R-Line branded scuff plates and grille, as well as a unique roof spoiler.
Like the Beetle, power for the Golf remains unchanged with engine options consisting out of a 1.4 TSI in two states of a tune, and single 2.0 TDI with a similar setup.
A three year / 120 000 km warranty and five year / 90 000 km service plan is standard on all models.
