Renault Kadjar range adjusted with auto box and 2WD diesel

Having amassed respectable sales and favourable reviews since its official unveiling in April, Renault South Africa has boosted its Kadjar range with the addition of an automatic gearbox on petrol models, and an entry level two-wheel drive turbodiesel.

Limited to the range topping Dynamique, the petrol again makes use of the same 1.2-litre TCe (Turbo Control Efficiency) engine used in the Clio and Captur, but with a seven-speed EDC dual-clutch box sending the 96 kW and 205 N.m of torque to the front wheels.

Standard spec remains unchanged from the manual with Renault claiming a top speed of 189 km/h and 0-100 km/h sprint of 11.0 secs. Combined fuel consumption improves by 0.2 L/100 km over the manual to 5.5 L/100 km with emissions dropping from 127 g/km to 123 g/km.

Slotting in below the flagship four-wheel drive 1.6 dCi, the new base diesel uses Renault’s proven 1.5 dCi  engine, which makes 81 kW and 260 N.m of torque when teamed with the standard six-speed manual box or 250 N.m with the optional six-speed EDC.

Top speed is a claimed 180 km/h for the manual and 179 km/h for the EDC with the 0-100 km/h sprint taking 12.2 and 12.0 secs respectively. Fuel consumption is rated at 4.6 L/100 km and 4.7 L/100 km and emissions at 120 g/km and 124 g/km.

A five year / 150 000 km warranty and five year / 90 000 km service plan is standard on all models.
