REPORT: “Zuma Must Fall” building has new banner

The City of Cape Town has reportedly confirmed that another banner has gone up on the same building that brandished the Zuma Must Fall board last week.

Speaking to News24, city spokesperson Priya Reddy said it has no idea who is responsible for the latest display, which features the South African flag draped across the front of the building on the corner of Kloof and Buitensingel streets.

“No application was made to the City [to have the banner erected]. We will investigate whether it is in contravention with any of our bylaws and if it is, the matter will be handed over to our prosecutor,” Reddy said.

Earlier this week, the City said is was in the process of taking legal action against advertising agency, Independent Outdoor Media, for the controversial banner that called for President Jacob Zuma to fall. It was eventually taken down this past Saturday after an outcry by ANC supporters, who labelled it as racist.
