Revenge a rumoured motive in George golf club murder

Police in George have identified revenge as a possible motive in the murder of a 60-year old woman, who was beaten to death with a golf club over the weekend.

The local George Herald reports that Hendrik Pietersen was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon, shortly after the body of Kaatjie Lambrecht was found on a pavement near the George showgrounds. She died on the scene as a result of numerous strikes to her head and back.

According to the paper, Pietersen allegedly got into an argument with Lambrecht’s husband earlier that same day, before attacking her while she was sitting on a pavement and having a bite to eat with a friend. Police also confiscated the club that was found in a bakkie reportedly used in the attack.

The case has been postponed till Friday to discuss Pietersen’s bail conditions.
