Police in Centane have confirmed the arrests of three suspects aged 27, 31 and 40 for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

In a statement, police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said officers were conducting routine patrols in Main Road Centane on Thursday, when they spotted a suspicious vehicle with the men inside. An investigation of the car turned up a pistol and ammunition, with the latter’s serial number also having been filed off.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Centane Magistrates’ Court on Monday on a charge of the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
