Rubber-Faced King of Clean Comedy, Barry Hilton to Perform in Port Elizabeth

MARCH 4, 2015

South African Comedy Legend Barry Hilton will perform his riveting new show, The Way I See It, at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre in Port Elizabeth on Friday, 13 March 2015. His new show gives audiences a peek inside the goings on in his quirky head. Hilton has a delightful knack of finding the ludicrous and humorous in daily situations, turning what seems perfectly normal on its head to make us laugh at life.

“I just see things differently,” says Barry.  “It’s not even as if I’m on the lookout for new material, it literally just jumps out at me.  Every day.  All day.”

After a 8 show tour of the UK in July last year, Barry kick started the 8th Hong Kong International Comedy Festival with shows in Singapore, Macau and Hong Kong in September before jetting off to Australia and New Zealand for a string of sold-out performances.

Barry’s shows are unscripted, bursting with an electrifying mix match of content.  Lively retellings of recent observations and experiences together with the finest selection of older fan favourites and brand new material keep audiences on the edge of their seats. So eclectic is the content that you could watch three or four shows in a row and no one will be exactly the same. “Travelling so extensively gives me heaps of new material and makes me focus on making my material accessible to as many people as possible,” says Barry.

With a track record of 30 years in comedy, Barry has raised the world’s laughter level considerably.  With regular performances in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Asia and of course across Africa, Barry brings laughter wherever he goes.

Career highlights include performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, being shortlisted alongside John Cleese for Best Comedy Act Dubai 2013, being invited to perform at the world famous Harrah’s Improv in Las Vegas and shortly thereafter his industry peers recognized him with the Comics Choice Lifetime Achiever Award.

Humble as ever, Barry continues to draw capacity crowds to venues across Africa.  He regularly features on television and has six signature DVDs to his name as well as two movies.  While not on the public stage, he records radio and television adverts, performs at corporate events and works on international cruise liners. There is just no slowing down for this veteran comedian.  Be sure to catch his one-night-only show on 13 March 2015 at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre in Port Elizabeth.
