Ryk Neethling talks about swimming and property development in Port Elizabeth

AUGUST 27, 2015

The property industry was treated to a coffee morning with Olympic gold medalist turned property developer, Ryk Neethling on Wednesday morning. Neethling was invited by bond originators, Capcubed Finance and BLC Attorneys to address 170 clients at the Boardwalk Hotel and Conference Centre, in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth.

The multiple World Record Holder started off his presentation reminiscing about the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece and likened his highs and lows while training, to those he experiences in the corporate world every day.

He emphasized how important it is that athletes have a “plan B,” for once they have retired from professional sports.

Neethling is the Marketing Director and a shareholder in the Val de Vie Estate in the Paarl/Franschoek region; a development that won the Best Single Unit Residential Development Award at the International Property Awards in Dubai.

He humbly told of how “property is in his blood,” as his father is a conveyancing attorney, and his move into the property industry was a natural progression.

He proposed to Canadian beauty queen, Sahar Biniaz, three months ago, and plans to marry her at the Val de Vie Estate.

Neethling was the first South African to compete in four Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games and was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga Silver by the President of South Africa for outstanding service to the country.
