SACP holds 94th anniversary celebrations in Port Elizabeth this weekend

The South African Communist Party (SACP) is expected to colour Port Elizabeth red, when it will hold a rally to celebrate its 94th founding anniversary this weekend.

The SACP is the oldest and largest Communist Party in Africa and the second oldest and largest political formation in South Africa after the African National Congress (ANC), which it shares a relationship with in the Tripartite Alliance.

SACP General Secretary, Blade Nzimande, who is also the Minister for Higher Education and Training, is expected to address the rally on Sunday.

The rally will be held at the Raymond Mhlaba Sports Complex, in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.

Other speakers include Congress of South African Trade Union (COSATU) Deputy and Acting General Secretary, Bheki Ntshalintshali, and Young Communist League of South Africa National Secretary, Mluleki Dlelanga.
