JULY 23, 2015

Opinions about the Nelson Mandela Bay, by residents and outsiders, have changed for the better over the past few months and there were new investors eyeing the city, according Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Danny Jordaan.

He was speaking at a media briefing after engaging with a delegation from the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) on Wednesday.

"Ultimately the restoration of dignity and people taking care of their own lives is dependent on us growing the economy and creating jobs.

"We had a meeting with investors a week ago, while sitting in this meeting we had another indication of people wanting to come to this city to invest. So in a short space of time I think the mood has changed and if we didn't notice inside the city, people outside the city have noticed," says Jordaan.

He also said that different interventions that had been put in place to turn the municipality around including improved public engagement and infrastructure development.

Jordaan appealed to SALGA  to provide support the Metro in speeding up service delivery to residents.
