Serial robbers? Despatch police appeal for leads after another shop robbed


Police in Despatch have appealed to the public for assistance in their investigations after two men allegedly robbed the Gohar Supermarket in Main Street, Despatch, on Thursday, at about 17:00.

According to the police, the two men pretended to be customers entered the shop. One of the suspects held a shop assistant, who was alone, at gunpoint, while the other ransacked the shop.

“Suspects stole undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and a cell phone, before fleeing on foot,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

He added that no person was injured and no shots were fired.

The appeal comes after two armed suspects allegedly robbed the Despatch Liquor Mart along Botha Street, Despatch, on Monday afternoon, at about 13:00. No one was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made so far.
