Shakes Mashaba selects five new players for game against Cameroon
Amajita coach, Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba has selected five new players for his under-20 squad who will face Cameroon for the 2015 African Youth Championship qualifiers at the Old Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday.
Mashaba has expressed the importance of this game, saying that the team would have to work hard.
If Amajita wins the match, they will qualify for the finals to be held in Dakar, Senegal, from March 8 to 22 next year.
"It’s the final hurdle for us to qualify for the finals in Senegal next year. We are playing at home and cannot afford to disappoint," said Mashaba.
"Our junior national teams have not been doing well; this is the beginning of good things.
"We have a very good team; the youngsters are hungry for success. We need to be more clinical up front and also ensure we do not concede.
"Defending is out of question. We need to have a good start, especially in the first 10 to 15 minutes."
Mashaba has replaced Dumisane Msibi who was red carded in Yaounde, with Mamelodi Sundowns, Mpho Mathekga.
He has also received four new players who did not participate in Yaounde; Ajax Cape Town defender Tebogo Moerane, Izinyoka FC midfielder Phillip Ndlondlo, Bidvest Wits midfielder Hashim Domingo and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Ntando Ngubane.
Amajita are already in Polokwane preparing for the match.
