Sharks hope Lewies recovers in time

BY NATALI IVERSON - SEPTEMBER 23, 2014

The Cell C Sharks are hoping that their lock, Stephan Lewies, will recover from his knee injury in time, to play in their Currie Cup match against the Eastern Province Kings, at the Kings Park Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

Sharks team doctor, Alan Kourie, also released a medical update on four players, who are currently on the injury list. Prop, Thomas Du Toit is still suffering from a toe injury and will not be available for the clash this coming weekend.

Conrad Hoffmann, who strained a muscle in his buttocks, and Lewies, will both undergo fitness tests before Saturday’s game.

Jacques Botes has a SC joint sprain and will be monitored until the Currie Cup clash.

After beating the Blue Bulls 26-15 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria over the past weekend, Sharks seem to be making a comeback from a losing streak earlier this season.

Sharks are currently sitting third on the log - right behind the Golden Lions, and will be looking to collect maximum points this Saturday.

"Winning at Loftus is big, for anybody, but the secret is to put that behind us and turn our attention to the next challenge. All our thinking is now on the EP Kings," said Sharks forwards coach Paul Anthony.

"They will come here with nothing to lose and we need to focus purely on them."
