Shoes for Souls: Lukhanyiso Children’s Home gets donation from NMMU VCS Leadership Development Programme

NOVEMBER 27, 2014

Eight cars and bakkies, loaded up with gifts of school shoes, casual shoes, books, calculators, toys, food and a washing machine, brought much excitement to Lukhanyiso Children’s Home in KwaNobuhle Township in Port Elizabeth.

The goods were gathered through the “Shoes for Souls” project, spearheaded by students in Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship (VCS) Leadership Development Programme.

The students, with programme coordinator Elize Naude (bottom, left) have been visiting the 17 children at the home throughout the year – building relationships with them and sharing the value of education with them.
