Six GO GEORGE attackers remain behind bars

BY CHARL BOSCH - SEPTEMBER 17, 2015

The George Magistrate’s Court has reportedly denied bail to six of the thirteen taxi drivers accused of torching four GO GEORGE Rapid Transit Buses last month.

In passing her verdict on Thursday, Judge Emma Moloro ruled that the suspects, who were linked to the incident by cellphone footage, could interfere with the investigation as they are known by some of the witnesses.

Local media reports that the remaining five drivers were granted bail of R1 000 each after it was determined that they did not take part in the attacks despite also being captured on video. The case has since been postponed till October 28th to allow for further investigation.

The men are facing charges ranging from public violence and intimidation, to possession of explosives after setting four buses on fire and damaging a further six on August 19th, in a row over the issuing of permits.
