Six killed in Port Elizabeth in weekend gang-related violence


Six people were shot and killed in suspected gang-related violence in the Port Elizabeth’s Northern Areas over the weekend.

Speaking to News24, Warrant Officer, Alwin Labans, said that a 26-year-old man was shot and killed on Saturday morning. A 20 year-old man was also shot and wounded.

On Saturday night, two women, aged 24 and 20, and two men, aged 30 and 31, were killed in a drive-by shooting incident after the occupants of a white bakkie opened fired on a group of people. A 17 year-old girl was also wounded in the same incident.

Both shootings took place in Arcadia.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a man was shot and killed in Booysens Park. Local residents said they heard gun shots after which they discovered the man’s body lying in the street.

No arrests have yet been made regarding the killings.
