Six Port Alfred men expected in court for possession of drugs

Six Port Alfred men, aged between 25 and 36 years old, are due in court after they were arrested by police on Friday for possession of drugs in Nemato, Port Alfred.

According to police, a task team was established by the Cluster Commander to focus on SAPS' Back to Basics operation.

“A 30-year old male was arrested for possession of dagga; 42 grams were confiscated to the value of R450,” said police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

She added that, a 36 year-old male was arrested for possession of 10 mandrax tablets to the value of R600.

Police further arrested four males, aged between 25 and 34 years old, for possession of drugs, 8grams of cocaine and crack coke to the value of R1 500.

The suspects will appear before the Port Alfred Magistrate Court on Monday.

Brigadier Morgan Govender, the Cluster Commander of Port Alfred commended the commander Captain Hansie Slabbert, and said, “Excellent work! I am proud of the team.”
