SNOW ALERT for Eastern Cape regions

APRIL 16, 2015

According to a website, Snow Report SA, mountainous regions just outside of Graaff Reinet and the Hogsback Mountains can also expect snow fall on Thursday.

After a cold front swept through the Western Cape early in the week, the website said they were seeing moisture moving slightly inland.

"...and there is now a chance of snow on some of the mountain ranges as indicated on the map below on Thursday this week. There is a chance that the snow could extend up further into the Eastern Cape Drakensberg late on Thurday, but we will update the map again tomorrow if this looks consistent over the next 24 hours.

"Snow falls are expected to be light and confined to the high peaks. Very cold air is moving in with this weather system, so we think that it is time to get the winter woolies out!" the website said.

The warning was issued for the following places: Ncobo, Lady Frere, Cofimvaba, Cradock, Queenstown, Molteno, Tarkastad, Barkley East and Elliot.

Small stock farmers are to take precautions.
