South Africans dine-out to the tune of R4-billion

A survey conducted by Stats SA, has revealed that South Africans spend almost R4-billion in October on fast food and drinks, the third highest amount spend on food and beverages since January 2009.

According to the article posted by CityPress, total income generated by the industry increased by 11.5% versus the same month in 2013. Out the R3.95-billion spend, coffee shops garnered the biggest share with R1.8-billion followed by R1.5-billion spend at traditional fast food outlets, and R660-million spend on catering services.

The figures also indicated a 15.2% increase in the fast-food industry, its highest annual growth, and 11.0% for coffee shops.
