Springrose, Progress remain unbeaten to proceed to semi-finals in EC Super 12 Rugby Tournament
Port Elizabeth’s Springrose and Uitenhage’s Progress finished the group stages as the only two unbeaten sides in the Eastern Cape Super 12 Rugby Competition – winning five matches out of five each in their respective groups.
Topping Group A, Springrose accumulated 22 group points with a total points’ difference of +60 – scoring a total of 18 tries and conceding 11.
In Group B, Progress certainly made great progress scoring 14 tries and conceding just eight with an overall points’ difference of +43.
With the top two in each group progressing to the semi-finals play-offs, Gardens from Uitenhage seconded in Group A with 17 points, while EL Police from East London – being the only representative from Border remaining, running up Group B with 18 points.
Last week’s results saw the competition’s flag bearers; Springrose beat runners-up, Gardens 20-15 in a tight encounter and Progress beating Walter Sisulu University 17-5.
Springrose are set to host EL Police at the New Brighton Oval and Progress playing host to Gardens in Central, Uitenhage, on Saturday, 4th March, in the two semi-finals respectively.
