St Andrew's College Cricket Round Up for 2016

NOVEMBER 23, 2016

The St Andrew’s College 1st XI finished off their year with a celebration of cricket and awards involving the Old Andrean match and the cricket dinner. After wins vs. Graeme and Kingswood College in 20/20 cricket they enjoyed a 47 run win vs. the OA XI. David Rushmere struck the ball beautifully vs. Graeme College scoring 89 and James Quarmby picked up 3 wickets for 20 runs.

Craig Stow bowled with good pace in his quality spell of 3/17 vs. Kingswood College and this was backed up by Robert Quarmby’s match winning knock of 51 off 41 balls.

The OA match produced some memorable moments. This included Simon Taylor’s magnificent feat of taking his 200th 1st XI wicket and Bruce Phillips’ performance of 47 runs as well as 3 wickets for 3 runs. This performance earned Bruce the man of the match award and the OA bat. OA’s Andrew Rushmere (43) and Murray Leith (38) put in a solid effort with their 86 run partnership, but it was not enough as the school boys upset the OA’s innings after the drinks break. Thanks very much too all concerned in the festivities on Saturday, it was a wonderful day of Cricket.
