Stanford Road now open after protesters dispersed - see video

AUGUST 27, 2015

The N2 Highway section, between Stanford Road and Costwold, in Port Elizabeth is now open after vehicles that had been used by disgruntled contractors to block off traffic on Thursday morning were towed away and police eventually used tear gas, rubber bullets and water canons  to disperse the protesters.

The SMME's, who are contracted by SANRAL, are demanding a percentage of the reported R100 million invested on the project.

Police, supported by a helicopter, were still monitoring the situation.
