Steph du Toit selected for Currie Cup warm-up match

JULY 28, 2015

Cell C Sharks Director of Rugby, Gary Gold, has selected Springbok lock, Pieter-Steph du Toit in his team for their Currie Cup warm-up match against the Emirates Golden Lions in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.

Steph du Toit, who missed most of the 2015 Super Rugby competition due to a knee injury, has reportedly been working on his rehabilitation with the Sharks in Durban.

The 22 year old, was left off of Springboks head coach, Heyneke Meyer’s squad earlier this month due to injury concerns, however, there may be a possibility that he will once again be selected for the Rugby World Cup squad, now that he has recovered.

"Pieter-Steph will be making his comeback this weekend and he will be playing. I don’t know what SARU’s plan is with him but with us, he is currently contracted to us and we’re excited to have him back,” Gold said.

"I’m going to play him for as long as he is with us or until he gets called up to the Springboks and anyone who gets left out of the Boks will come back here and play for us," he added.
