Still no power in Seaview, Chelsea, Lorraine and surrounds

AUGUST 5, 2015

The residents of Seaview, Chelsea, Lorraine and surrounds are reportedly currently without power for the second day after a substation tripped early on Tuesday morning.

According to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Tuesday a local feeder tripped at Lorraine substation, which left the Kragga Kamma, Theescombe and Seaview lines without power.

It said that its technicians were attending to the restoration of power supply but could not give a timeframe.

One resident told RNews that they only got supplies for a few hours on Tuesday evening.

“No one is able to contact the electricity department as it goes straight to voicemail,” she said.

Seaview was among the areas left in the dark for close to a week after workers in the municipality's Electricity and Infrastructure embarked on an illegal strike over scarce skills allowances last week.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality was still to respond with updates on progress in restoring power to the area by the time of publishing.

We will update this article as soon as we hear anything from the municipality.
