Strong competition at mohair sale

AUGUST 27, 2014

The second sale of the 2014 winter mohair season took place in Port Elizabeth yesterday with a total of 109 117 kilo-grams on offer with a nearly 100% sales clearance.

Mohair South Africa said in a statement after the sale that the offering had “consisted of a better quality and length than the hair that had been on offer at the first winter sale”.

Mohair SA said that this had resulted in “strong competition among all buying houses with increased average price levels”.

It said the average market indicator had gained 3.7% from the previous sale and closed on R176.38 per kilogram, with the highest price of R530.10/kg paid for a bale of 26 micron good style kid mohair.

The next sale will be on September 16. - MetroMinutes
