Strong mohair market results continue

SEPTEMBER 17, 2014

The mohair market “continued to deliver strong results” at the third sale of the 2014 winter season in Port Elizabeth yesterday.

Mohair South Africa said in a statement that a total of 185 727 kilogrammes had been on offer, with the clip consisting of some good quality mohair, especially the stronger kids. It said that this had resulted in the kind market indicator in-creasing by 4.8%.

Mohair SA said that the average market indicator rose marginally by 1.3% from the previous sale to close on R178.71 per kilogram, adding that the third sale had witnessed “good demand from buying houses for the good quality mohair on offer”.

It said that a highest price had been paid for a bale of super style 26 micron kid’s mohair at Tuesday’s sale, adding that the fourth sale of the 2014 winter season would take place in Port Elizabeth on October 7. - metrominutes
