JUNE 30, 2016

Stutterheim police have appealed to the public for help in locating 16-months old Abukhanyisile Sitebisa, who was abandoned by his grandmother in the bush as punishment to the child's mother.

According to Eastern Cape police, "The grandmother left the child in the bushes near the river at Mbulelo Location on Sunday, 19 June 2016.

"It is alleged that she abandoned the child because the 18-year-old mother is not looking after him."

The incident was only reported on Tuesday, 28 June 2016, and the area was searched with no success.

The grandmother was arrested and charged with Child Abandonment and is appearing in court on Thursday.
