Suzuki Swift goes under the knife

First shown in India some three months ago, Suzuki Auto South Africa has officially announced pricing as well as spec details of it facelifted Swift hatch and DZire sedan.

Applying only to models fitted with the base 1.2-litre engine, styling changes are mostly subtle and includes a new grille and revised front bumper, while the DZire also features blacked out headlight clusters and a redesigned rear bumper.

Inside, the interior remains largely untouched with the only changes being the addition of a Bluetooth audio system on the base GL hatch and black cloth trim for the DZire.

Underneath the bonnet, power remains unchanged at 62 kW and 115 N.m of torque with transmissions being either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The fitment of a new engine management system however sees an improvement in fuel consumption with Suzuki claiming a combined figure of 5.3 L/100 km for the hatch manual (down 0.4 L/100 km) and 5.8 L/100 km for the auto (6.3 L/100 km previously).

Similarly, consumption for the DZire falls by 0.5 L/100 km and 0.4 L/100 km respectively with the manual now being rated at 5.2 L/100 km and the auto at 5.9 L/100 km.

Again available in GA or GL spec, standard spec on both includes air-conditioning, central locking, dual front airbags, ABS and EBD while the latter adds electric windows, foglights and keyless entry.

A three year / 100 000 km warranty and two year / 30 000 km service is standard on all models.
