Task Forces make another PE abalone bust on Marine Drive

458 units of abalone valued at R60 000 has been confiscated in another abalone bust late on Wednesday on Marine Drive, Port Elizabeth.

The bust was made by the Department of Agricultural Forestry and Fisheries and the Tactical Task Force of Port Elizabeth, who said in a statement that they had received a tip-off from the public regarding illicit abalone activities occurring on the Wild Side of Marine Drive.

After no abalone was found in the suspect-vehicle, the vehicle and suspect were released; after which further investigation ensued and several bags of abalone were found in nearby bushes.

The concentration of abalone has since been booked into the Humewood Police Station until further notice.
