DECEMBER 3, 2015

A teenager and a 29-year-old man, who allegedly raped four young girls over the course of two days, will appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

According to police, the suspects allegedly accosted four young females who were on their way home on Monday night. They were taken into a house in Extension 9 in Joza, where they were raped.

“In the early hours of Tuesday morning three of the girls were released whilst the eldest, aged 18, was detained by the suspects,” police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said.

Govender said the three young victims found their way to the Joza police where they reported the incident. Police thereafter went out to the house where they were held.

“The fourth victim was found there as well as the two suspects. During the search, a Norinco pistol with three live rounds of ammunition was found and seized. The juvenile was released into the custody of a relative who was warned to bring the suspect to court.”

The suspects faced several counts including rape, kidnapping, armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
