Three men who robbed a policeman of his service pistol and uniform are under search by the Port Elizabeth police services.

The incident took place in Sobhuza Street, Motherwell, late on Wednesday night when the 32-year-old Constable and his friend were accosted by the respective gunmen.

It occurred in the yard of a house when the robbers had reportedly instructed the respective friend to tie the policeman’s hands before hitting him over the head.

Police spokesperson, Mncedi Mbombo, said the robbers fled in a Mazda 323 with the stolen police possessions and has advised that if anyone can assist in the investigation, they should contact the nearest police station.
