DECEMBER 12, 2015

The case against a senior Free State municipal official, charged with killing his wife, was transferred to the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court by the Winburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Ian Gaobepe said: "The matter was transferred to the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court and is set for December 14."

Maphobole Maphobole, 33, the director of corporate services in the Tokologo local municipality allegedly pushed his 26-year-old wife against a wall in their home in Langenhoven Park, Bloemfontein.

She hit her head and then collapsed. He then went to visit his parents for the weekend with her body in the boot of his car.

Maphobole was caught after two homeless men spotted him apparently burning her body on Sunday November 29 and alerted the police, said Gaobepe.
