Town Lodge Night Relay heads for Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

JUNE 21, 2016

Support is growing for the monthly Town Lodge Business Night Relay which takes place on the last Tuesday of the month at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium with round 2 just under a week away.
Open to 5 person running teams and 3 person walking teams, the Town Lodge Night Relay offers local businesses and sports teams a great opportunity to stay active during winter and socialise outside of the workplace.

The event offers a unique team building opportunity which is useful for breaking down barriers between individuals through fun group participants and building your team morale in the work place.

A lot of the companies taking part in this year’s event have entered both walking and running teams with the current split between the two categories being 60:40 in favour of the run teams with a very healthy contingent of walking teams.
The next round of the Town Lodge Night Relay takes place on Tuesday 28th June starting at 6pm with gates into the stadium opening at 4pm for the teams.

Online registration for all new teams is mandatory with an entry fee of just R500 per running team and R300 per walking team. All companies and teams that registered for round 1 just indicate their attendance for Round 2 by making an EFT payment for Round 2 entry fees ahead of the Tuesday. Pre-registered teams keep the same race number throughout the Series.
Series leaders, and champions for the past couple of years, the Gamble Pharmacy team will take some beating this year with their strongest opposition currently coming from their mixed team whom they just managed to pip in Round 1 by a couple of seconds.

In the walking category the social team from Bluewater Bay are currently in a class of their own and it’s going to take a group of serious walkers to challenge them.
This unique Series held in Nelson Mandela Bay sees each runner or walker having to complete a 3.5km route within the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium which sees participants running completely around the stadium on both level’s 2 and 5 offering an awesome view of this iconic venue.

The route has just a brief 100m section along Prince Alfred Road which sees participants leaving the secure gates of the stadium and this section is patrolled by Atlas Security for participants peace of mind whilst inside the stadium no fewer than 20 marshals and security officers are along the route which this round will also include a half-way water station.
