Traffic Advisory: Roadworks continue in Port Elizabeth on Thursday

JUNE 9, 2016

The South African National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) on Thursday advised motorists of roadworks taking place in Port Elizabeth, starting on Thursday night.

The Kempston I/C Bridge will be resurfaced on the following evenings between 7pm and 5am the following morning. The public must please use alternative routes as the bridge will be closed during this time. All the on/off ramps will however be open.

  • Thursday, 9th of June.
  • Friday, 10th of June.

Note that there will always be an access route and exit route via the ramps of the intersection and/or bridges.

The following works will be ongoing during the course of this week and next week:

  • Pre-marking of the road to continue between Kempston I/C and Neptune I/C. Lane restrictions WILL NOT be implemented.
  • Concrete drain construction will be carried out past Bluewater Bay I/C in a Easterly direction. Lane restrictions WILL be implemented.
  • Replacing of bridge joints will continue between Kempston I/C and Settlers I/C. Lane restrictions WILL be implemented.

Please note that the speed limit in all the construction areas will be set at 60km/h and must be adhered to for the safety of our road workers.

“Motorists are asked to plan their trips accordingly and to use caution when making use of the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region’s Regional Manager.

SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused.
