Training in agriculture and other skills in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture

Food garden coordinators that form part of a project that is part of the Department of Local Economic Development (LED) department and other members of the public attended three different courses, each of 3 weeks long in agriculture, soft skills and entrepreneurship as well as health and safety, first aid and firefighting that was spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture.

The courses were held at the Research Farm facilitated by the Department of Agriculture. Since the courses started in February 2017, 71 participants in the food garden and community market projects attended these courses.

The Food garden coordinators that attended the agricultural course maintained a garden at the Research Farm. A second group of agricultural students installed the irrigation system at Conville Primary School and afterwards started a vegetables and herbs garden at the Conville Primary School.
