Transnet Port Terminals Port Elizabeth goes for gold

OCTOBER 6, 2015

In an event that was held last night, 1 October 2015 at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, the Port Elizabeth Terminal once again represented TPT and the Eastern Cape well, coming home with a win.

Following the Regional Productivity Awards which were held in PE last month, the Nationals were celebrated to acknowledge productivity in South Africa, under the theme “A Year of Labour” where TPT PE came out tops and was applauded for outstanding achievement in productivity improvement in the Public Sector Category.

Speaking at the awards, David Gwabeni who is the Acting Terminal Manager in PE thanked Productivity SA for the honour and recognition that came with PE Terminal being deemed as one of the most productive companies in South Africa.

“We will continue making strides in ensuring that we not only play part in improving productivity, but thrive towards being an efficient organisation that prides itself of being an economic catalyst in the Eastern Cape, and the country at large. I would also like to thank the PE Terminal employees and management, without whom, I would not be standing before you tonight to accept this award” he added.

The National Productivity Awards have been in existence since the early 1970’s. Their aim is to support and celebrate the promotion of productivity within various institutions and industries operating in SA.

There is a rigorous selection plan and adjudication process which is followed to ensure that only the best of the best companies win. There are four (4) categories, namely:   Co-Operatives Sector, Public Sector, Corporate Sector and Emerging Businesses

According to Siya Mhlaluka, GM: Eastern Cape, “The award once again affirms the confidence that the various stakeholders have on us, and it is our mandate to ensure that we maintain that standard of excellence, and strive towards ultimately exceeding it in  all the aspects of the business” she concluded.
