Twelve busted with dagga and illegal firearms by Port St Johns SAPS

Port St Johns SAPS say they arrested six suspects, aged between 25 and 35 years, for possession and dealing in dagga near a farm, along the R61 road between Port St Johns and Lusikisiki, early on Friday.

"The suspects were travelling with motor vehicle when police stopped, searched the vehicle and seized fifteen bags of dagga weighting 39.85kg  with an estimated street value R39 850," police said.

"The six suspects were detained at Lusikisiki SAPS and will appear at Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Monday."

In another incident, Mthontsasa SAPS members arrested six supsects for murder and attempted murder following an incident that happened on 14 January.

"The suspect,Vela Mkohlwa (35), Cebo Ndlovo (25), Qhubekani Mbhele (30), Lusapho mbiko (25), Siyanda Mboyi (29), and Sabela Mapompo (35), were found in possession of two firearms - a revolver with one round of ammunition, and a 9mm pistol with an erased serial number and seven rounds of ammunition."

They appeared before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Friday and were denied bail by the court.

Their case was remanded to 18 February.
