Police in Uniondale have reportedly confirmed the arrest of two suspects after abalone worth R1-million was found on the back of a bakkie this past weekend.

According to the George Herald, officers pulled over a white Toyota Hilux near the town in the early hours of Sunday morning, where a closer inspection of the metal drums on the back, tuned up 4 315 pieces of abalone stashed in plastic packets. It is believed that the consignment was being transported from Cape Town to Johannesburg.

In addition, a plastic packet containing six grams of tik was found in the driver’s possession. The men are expected to appear in court soon.
