Two by-elections in Nelson Mandela bay on November 5
By-elections will be held in Nelson Mandela Bay’s wards 42 and 46 on November 5, according to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
The ANC won Ward 42 in the 2011 Local Government Election, taking 89.87% of the vote to the 7.58% of COPE.
The by-election results from the expulsion from the ANC of the sitting councillor Andile Gqabi.
The ANC also won Ward 46 in 2011, taking 64.89% of the vote to the DA’s 22.43%, followed by COPE (9.48%) and the PAC (1.79%).
The by-election results from the death of sitting councillor Manelisi Vumazonke.
Another by-election scheduled for the same day is in Nkonkobe (Alice) Ward 19, won by the ANC in 2011 with 90.04%, followed by the PAC (5.72%) and DA (4.24%).
