Two Dutywa men arrested for murder – woman dies in mysterious blaze

Dutywa police on Saturday arrested two men, aged between 20 and 22 years old, for the murder of 27-year-old Zithulele Sigwayi at Dutywa.

According to the police, the Sigwayi was stabbed in his upper body and died instantly.

“The motive for the murder is not clear at this point, but the police are investigating,” said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

The two suspects will appear before the Dutywa Magistrate Court on Monday.

In an unrelated incident, Butterworth police, have launched investigation after a 65-year-old woman died in fire at her home at Deyi Location, Ngquthu Village, near Kei Bridge, Butterworth, on Friday.

According to the police, a local man saw the house of the deceased in flames and community members came in huge numbers to help extinguish the fire.

“Sadly the woman died.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known, but Kei Bridge Police have opened an inquest docket for further investigation,” said police spokesperson, Captain Manatha.

He added that the deceased has been identified as Nongamile Deyi.
