Two Gelvandale men expected in court for attempted murder

Two suspects are expected in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday after they were arrested by the Port Elizabeth Gang Task Team on Thursday night in Gelvandale, in the City's Northern Areas, on charges of attempted murder.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, "One suspect, 22 years old, will be charged on two cases of attempted murder involving shooting incidents in February 2016 while the other suspect, 40 years old, will be appearing on one case of attempted murder." 

A 9mm Glock firearm and ammunition was also confiscated in the arrest.

"Police are appealing to the communities in the Northern Areas to come forward and assist them in arresting wanted suspects involved in gang related crimes.

"Information may be reported anonymously on the Gang Task Team hotline on 079 398 6583 or 08600 10111," said Colonel Naidu.

"All information reported to police will be treated as strictly confidential. Be the eyes and ears of the police and work together with them in eradicating lawlessness in the Northern Areas."
