Two Men Bust With Abalone worth R800 000 in Bhisho

Vigilant Bisho Crime Prevention members have arrested another two Western Cape men suspected of transporting more than 600 abalone(Perlemoen) worth an estimated R800 000 in Bisho.

It is alleged that the suspects (20) and (28) were spotted driving a white bakkie en route to Durban.

The members, who were on patrol noticed liquid dripping from the back of the bakkie. They decided to stop the driver and questioned him.

When he failed to give satisfactory answers, the members examined the back of the bakkie and found plastic containers filled with abalone. The driver was arrested and confiscated abalone estimated to a value of 1.8 million rand.

Colonel Thembile Adoni, Station Commander of Bhisho commended his members for a sterling job.

“This shows that our members are attentive when they are doing their patrols and crime prevention operations. This should also send out a warning to criminals that our police officials are dedicated and committed when executing their duties,” he said.
